"Treatment of the elderly "

About: Chase Farm Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a service user),

Chase Farm is my local hospital and I have used it for blood tests and other tests and have found that over the years there have been improvements to these outpatient departments in both reception areas and time taken for tests, but still has the problem of most are in the old Buildings or Porta-cabin style with limited facilities and seating.

Over two years ago I went through the PALs procedure at the Hospital to complain about the way my elderly mother was treated during the her stay in the stroke wards. Toilets flooding in ward, stroke victims left to fend for themselves with feeding, blood in urine, Elderly being left in pain, crying out for mercy.

Despite the reply from PALS saying that things will improve because of our feedback, nothing seems to have changed in the treatment and dignity of the Elderly. In my view there are still elderly patients who are dying in pain, left soiled, no feedback from doctors, warnings about their health and welfare going unheeded. Not only are you getting the same feedback now, I have talked to so many local people that have seen the same situations still happening on numerous occasions.

I for one do not want to be a patient at Chase Farm Hospital when I am elderly and sick. I know from reports that Enfields Chase Farm is not unique and the lets hope the RNC and Government don't again bury their heads in the sand again at the lastest outcry.
