"Generic drugs"

About: Rotherham PCT

(as a staff member),

The waste/duplication/inefficiency I want to tell you about is:

Medication, community and trust need to be put together. Stop workers having to attend to prompt.

I think generic drugs are okay as they can save money, But for some different basic make up can have reactions. I think this can often be the case with drugs made up in south america. However, I do think we need to use the cheaper versions wherever possible.

I support the organisation in making sure that the voice of patients and the public is heard and used in planning services. This involves running events, managing surveys, and building networks with the local community.

This comment was posted from our Stakeholder event in June. We are asking for help in identifying waste and inefficiencies within health services, as we want to make provide the best value we can for public money.

A full report of the event has been sent to attendees and NHS Rotherham Board. Details of specific actions and issues have also been passed to commissioning staff for action.

Specific Issues Raised Above

There were a number of comments made about the use of different drugs and managing medications better. Our medications lead is already looking at these comments, and we are considering providing more information on this later in the year
