"Percutaneous Coronary Intervention"

About: Bedford Hospital South Wing / Cardiology

My admission to the Cardiac Catheterisation Suite, Beeden House was for the insertion of Stents into my heart arteries. The admission procedure was pleasant and carried out in a professional manner by all the staff. The procedure was explained and any questions I had were answered in understandable terms. The procedure took two hours and I was able to communicate with the Doctor and staff all the time. I was told that at certain times I would feel a slight sensation of pain for a few seconds, but all the time I was asked if I was Okay. After returning to the ward for recovery I was asked if I would like some refreshment which I accepted. The staff duly checked my progress every half an hour through the rest of the day until I was allowed to depart. In addition to the regular staff two Research nurses asked for my participation in two separate projects which I readily agreed to. My response to being asked to participate was I suppose because I had been treated so well that day and I felt I could give something back to repay for this.
