"Very let down"

About: University College Hospital

I had a lot of care at UCLH in 2017.

The problems started when vital information about one of my conditions was not passed to the person performing a procedure I was undergoing, and I didn't receive any sedation or pain relief for that when I should have.

An 'urgent admission within two weeks' - by the consultant's own words, left me without information, calling and calling and chasing, and at the two week point I didn't have an admission date/plan. Eventually it was four weeks afterwards when I was admitted.

During my inpatient time, medication was frequently changed without my being involved in the process at all.

I had to chase test results, from a procedure in July 2017 results were not given to me until February 2018 - and only at my having chased and gone via the complaints department.

No treatment has obviously been happening for this condition in the meantime and it is worsening.

Scant information was given to me about a surgical procedure it was planned that I undergo.

No information about likelihood of complications, or what they were.

I had to find this out myself, alone, online.

Inconsistent information was given to me about what the surgical fitting I would be left with would be, and I never received a definite answer on that, so ended up cancelling the procedure as I didn't feel safe to undergo it when I didn't know what I'd wake up with, or what might go wrong afterwards.

During the complaints process I was frequently promised a call at/within a specified time - and was frequently let down on this.

I do not trust my doctor/s any more.

I have asked that my GP request for my care to be transferred to an alternative hospital.

I would like to say though, on a positive note - the nurses are all amazing. They work so hard, under such tough conditions, and are always caring and patient.
