"Review of abbey wood surgery"

About: Abbey Wood Surgery

I have had many problems with this surgery. I am an insulin dependent diabetic and have had the wrong medication supplied on several occasions and due to the mix up I have been without medication for days. The doctors are very rude and ignorant and show no care or compassion towards the patients. I have heard the receptionists laughing and talking about patients and their medical history while sitting in the reception area. None of the doctors or receptionists take responsibility for mistakes made and pass the blame on

Firstly the surgery would like to say sorry for your poor experience with our service. We would encourage you to book a meeting with our Practice Manager to discuss your concerns

There is always the potential for human error when issuing medications. However most insulin controlled diabetics are on the same insulin in the long term with infrequent changes, and the surgery updates a patients repeat medications once we are informed of any changes. Due to the nature of the condition it would be extremely surprising to be without any medication for several days.

In the surgery there is a Duty Doctor on call each day to deal with emergencies and this often includes urgent medication requests. Such requests would be dealt with by close of day they are requested

All our staff are bound by strict confidentiality rules and would never discuss a patient's medical history and laugh about it in the reception area
