I was a drug addict for 14 years and I am still on the methadone, I do have the odd slip and by that I mean having a few lines and a pipe, it's always when I get away from family life and normality which is my downfall. I need to at least stay away from the outside world as much as I can.

I feel as if I have achieved a lot bringing up my child but I also feel terrible that my family has to look after my other child. It was my decision but now I feel so much better and in control of my life that I want my child back home.

The CDT (community drugs team) is a great organisation for people like me, although they can be strict they are also flexible as they want the best for the patient. If it wasn’t for clinics like this people would fall apart in ways like, shoplifting, drinking burglary and robbery anything to make them feel better.

So CDT’s are very important.

Thank you for your posting and comments about the CDT in Halton and CDT's in general.

It seems like Ashley House has helped you with a number of issues including looking at your substance misuse problem. If you have not already done so I would encourage you to discuss with your worker in the CDT if there might be help available to you from other sources within Ashley House such as the carers support group or the recovery group.

I think you demonstrate a lot of insight into how treatment is provided by Drugs Teams. We are aware it can be frusrating but there are certain requirements and tasks we have to abide with so we try to balance those requirements with engagement and the individual needs of our service users.
