"The care I got was second to none"

About: The Linden Medical Group

Firstly when I called to make an appointment the phone system was good, it told me where I was in the queue. I got through to friendly staff and got an appointment for a blood test and then to see the nurse. I was being seen for a health check and the nurse went through it with me explaining what she was doing and how I can improve my lifestyle. I needed to see the Gp for something else and the nurse booked me my appointment with a female Gp of my choice to suit me.

After I had seen the Gp I needed to see the nurse again. I went and booked my appointment at reception with the nurse I had seen before again to suit me, which was a Friday afternoon the reception staff where busy but very friendly and worked her way through the queue quickly. I didn’t want to say out loud what I needed to see the nurse for and the receptionist said I could put personal if I wanted but I told her very quietly and she didn’t repeat it so others in the waiting room wouldn’t know.

When I arrived the nurse called me in and explained what she was going to do. She made sure the door was locked before I got changed and made sure I was happy to carry on as I was nervous and she only carried on when I was ready. Talking to me all the time and reassuring me. After she had finished she told me to stay laying down for a few minutes as I said I had stomach cramps. She was washing her hands as I became faint and she quickly came to me and raised my feet and took my blood pressure. The whole time reassuring me. She kept taking my blood pressure and got me a drink of water. She offered me a cup of tea and biscuits as I said I had missed lunch that day as I had been so worried about coming to the surgery to have my procedure done. She offered to call my partner but I said no as he was at work and she asked if there was anyone else she could call to pick me up but I said no I would be fine. She stayed with me in her room the whole time and she made sure no-one came into the room that didn’t need to come in.

The whole time she was reassuring me and kept checking my blood pressure until it was back to normal and I was okay. She made the whole thing a lot better and I can’t thank her enough. I know she had other patients to see but she made sure that I was the only one that mattered.

The surgery have been so kind. I came back and the nurse came over to me in reception to check I had been okay. I was surprised because they do see a lot of patients and I didn’t think she would remember me but she did. All the staff are friendly and it’s nice to see them all have a smile (you don’t see that much these days). The care I have received aT this surgery has been really good.
