About: Ormskirk & District General Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

The need for hospital treatment is always going to be accompanied by levels of anxiety and concern, often amplified by fear and trepidation of what is to happen to you. You need have no cause for concern or worry when your hospital is Ormskirk and District General Hospital where all members of the Staff take a personal pride and enjoy their wok in caring for the sick and injured.

This is apparent from the very first encounter you experience with nursing and clinical professionals who ensure that you are going to be looked after and can be confidently reassured that the experience will be a pleasant one, with relief of pain being a top priority.

Admission to one of the hospital wards takes on the same fearless experience of being shown to an hotel room, with service standards to make you feel at home in your new environment with dedicated nursing staff who will help you to settle down and be relaxed, free from anxiety and worries.

I can attest to the above as my wife has recently undergone a total hip replacement operation under the expert professional skills of my surgone and their assistant, with Anaesthetic provision and monitoiring under the careful guidance of the anaesthetist.

Effectively they have successfully transformed the patient's life from one of painful restricted housebound imprisonment, to a freedom from pain and fully restored mobility one can only marvel at.

The dedicated nursing staff have constantly monitored her progress from the initial operational recovery phase to a radiant and fully restored happy and contented lady who can now look forward with eager enthusiasm to a full and active life.

The astonishing and quite remarkable army of specialist hospital staff who have visited her throughout her hospital stay is a testament to the dedication of the caring team of true professionals, committed to ensuring that the recovery procedures are followed and recorded to document her daily progress, with no event left unnoticed.

Physiotherapy and Occupational Health professionals are at the forefront of the recovery from such an operation and they ensure that every encouragement is given to the patient as soon as they consider it appropriate, for an attempt to carefully move from the bed into a bedside chair and promote strengthening of the leg muscles to then permit a standing position, with the eventual aim of a walk using a frame, followed by the taught use of crutches. Such dedication has to be seen to be believed, and I am totally impressed by the obvious care and concern for the patient's confidence to only attempt such procedures when they are certain the time is right.

All of the treatment plans are carefully explained in a booklet given to the patient, together with other associated detailed literature booklets to be referred to as desired for further information on this revolutionary implant procedure,

Excellent visiting times allow visitors to enhance the recovery process too.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for the Orthopaedic Ward at Ormskirk Hospital. We know our staff do an excellent job, but it is very much appreciated when we hear directly from a patient or their family. We will pass your comments onto the teams who will be pleased to hear your great feedback.
