"Not accommodating to a working life."

About: Spring Hall Group Practice

I'm writing this review after trying the phone the surgery to book an appointment about issues i have with my hands, which cause me daily pain and has done for, now, years.

I phoned to book and appointment for the following week as that is when i had a day off, not only was i greeted by a rude receptionist ( who sounded like she had enough of me from the first hello) I was then told i would have to call back closer to the time.

Why would i call back closer to the time when we could sort things on the phone then? Why do i have to wait to be called by a doctor to explain my problems for them then to tell me yes or no for an appointment?

Not only that, when i raised a skin issue, i was told it was dry skin (It isn't, i have had eczema and psoriasis my entire life, i know the difference) and the doctor i spoke to literally looked at it for less than a second.

It is just as bad at the boots surgery they share, i went in to book an appointment and the lady told me that's not how it works and then continued to um and arr about it, obviously had no idea how it worked either.

It is impossible to see a doctor and so inflexible it's ridiculous. I've seen a lot of good reviews and i am sad to say i have never, ever received this service and now, i avoid going and just live with the pain.

As of next week i am changing my doctors surgery to one nearby, so i can actually have someone look at the issue.

I would like to start by apologising for the way you felt the receptionist answered your call. This has been discussed at length at our weekly team meeting.

Spring Hall surgery operates a telephone consultation service, this means that you are called on the day by the GP and where necessary the GP will book an appointment for you to be seen that day. However there are numerous issues which do not require a GP appointment and can be dealt with via a telephone consultation, we find this frees up the GP to see those patients that need to be seen. If there is a specific day on which you would like to be seen due to work commitments then the receptionist would advise you to call on that day with a view to your problem being dealt with that day by either telephone consultation or an appointment.

It is very difficult for me to respond to all of your concerns raised here, but if you would like to discuss this complaint further please contact the surgery to arrange an appointment to see the Operations Manager Tracy Worrall who would be happy to help.
