"Poor communication with patients"

About: Royal Sussex County Hospital

I attended the Eastbourne Radiotherapy unit for my first 08:30 appointment for radiotherapy treatment this morning. I arrived early because the traffic in Eastbourne at that time of day is horrendous. When I arrived, the unit was not open, but the staff could be seen sitting at the booking in desk. A member of staff came out to me to advise that they do not open until 8.30, so I was advised to sit in the waiting area at Costa’s or the day therapy unit. It would have been helpful to have been informed of this when I attended for my planning. Then when I booked in, I was informed that my treatment times had changed, and this mornings appointment was now at 10:48 and a new schedule was given to me. In this day and age of technology, surely a phone call or text message could have been instigated. Not impressed!!
