After visiting an orthopaedic surgeons clinic and being told that my total hip replacement was urgent, I waited patiently for 12 weeks only to be sent a letter informing me that my planned ‘elective’ surgery has been delayed due to a greater number of clinically urgent cases. I find this to be very difficult to bear given that I am in constant pain, and struggle to work.
I have no hip socket left to speak of and after being told by the surgeon that this was urgent, I fail to understand why my surgery has been delayed.
This may be classed as elective, but it is certainly a necessity to me and my quality of life.
