"Woke up one morning feeling cold!"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Respiratory medicine

(as the patient),

Woke up one morning feeling cold. Could not get warm at all. Spent next few days in the spare bedroom drinking fluids and taking vitain tablets. Ate very little "real food", just breakfast bars, even toast was an effort. Due to my stubborness my family did not seek medical help. Eventually on Sunday 5/6/11 my wife saw me in true daylight - I was yellow and jaundiced. Paramedics were called. I was taken to hospital and diagtnosed with pneumonia and jaundice.

I hope you are now feeling much recovered. It is always wise to seek medical help early if you experience a change from how you normally feel – that’s what the NHS is there for.

Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved?

Please contact Philip Dylak, Director of Nursing at philip.dylak@tgh.nhs.uk
