"Take my pain seriously"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Gynaecology University Hospital Wishaw / Gynaecology (Ward 13)

(as a service user),

I have a condition which is causing severe pain which I take morphine for and is exacerbating existing conditions of fibromyalgia, anxiety and depression. I have attended Gynecology for years about symptoms such as heavy painful periods, bulking pressure and painful intercourse. I have had treatment for fibroids in 2015 but condition wasn't monitored and the problematic fibroid is now  double the size as measured in 2015.

I was referred to radiology for UAE treatment however MRI indicated I am not a candidate for the treatment.  The doctor I saw, who was wonderful, sent an e-mail to Gynecology recommending a hysterectomy. I have asked for a hysterectomy since 2015 but i feel no one is listening! My mood is suffering due to constant pain, I can't wait for month's for an appointment to see my gynecologist then a further wait for the operation. I don't see whats to discuss or what the delay in treatment is for? I'm feeling lost and afraid. I can't access pain management services through my gp or physiotherapist until the gyne issues are resolved.

Feelings of hopelessness are becoming more frequent, suicidal thoughts have returned they seem like a good way to end my pain.

I just want someone to help, to take my pain seriously and take action in the form of a hysterectomy to help reduce it.

I've lost my job because I've been off sick due to pain and the side effects of morphine.

I'm on voluntary suspension from university I should be completing honours year of my degree but I am unable to at the present. If my condition had been properly monitored and someone actually took action to help then my life would not be in danger

Dear Wellness warrior,

I am sorry to hear how you are feeling and I understand why you would want someone to take your pain seriously.

Can I ask that you contact Yvonne Ross the patient affairs manager at the University Hospital Wishaw and give her your details so that I can ensure that you have an appointment to be seen soon.

Thank you for taking the time to make your posting.

Yvonne`s phone number is 01698 366558

Regards

Pauline
