"Dreadful"

About: St Bartholomew's Hospital / Breast surgery

I had changes in my breast and a lump that my GP thought was a cyst and so referred me to this clinic for an ultrasound. The Dr who first examined me seemed to be in a rush and was quite flustered but agreed that there was a noticable difference between my breasts and that both should be scanned. I went upstais for ultrasound where we waited for about 3 hours and it was so busy there were not enough seats for all the patients. The radiologist was quite rude and refused to scan both breasts and didn't actually scan the area where the lump was. She got quite angry that I couldn't lie exactly as she wanted due to a physical disability and wouldn't allow me time to get myself into the position she wanted and kept barking at me - she seemed to be in a rush and irtitated that I was slowing her down. Then said she had found a benign lump and would biopsy it which was incredibly painful as she did not use enough anaesthetic. I was told my symptoms were probably a result of an infection and I would need antibiotics which the dr downstairs would give me. I went back downstairs and was made to wait in a cold corridor whereby I kept getting mistaken for another patient. After an hour I saw the original dr again who also seemed to be in a hurry and didn't even shut the consultation room door. She said the symptoms I had were completely normal and was very dismissive. She couldn't explain my symptoms and told me my breasts were symmetrical despite saying before they were not. I told her what the radiographer had said about an infection and she tried to tell me I had misunderstood and was again very dismissive. I left feeling very stressed and not in the least reassured. 10 days later I was called back for more tests (still waiting for this "urgent" appointment) so clearly not all fine and I have to say I have very little confidence in this clinic so I am not looking forward to going back at all - dreadful.
