I have been a patient at the Jenner for all of my 46 years and yes I've had my grumbles over the years about queues for an appointment and long waiting times in the surgery but lets give credit where it's due. The whole team from reception through to health care assistants and the gp's are working their backsides off to meet the growing population and increased demand for service, with reduced funds and resources.

I have needed the support of the surgery over recent weeks and they have all been outstanding, despite the hectic pressures that are part of the norm for this service being clear to see.

I may not always be offered the best time for me but they do their best to get me seen as soon as they can. I may not always get the results I call in for, as they haven't been checked that day, but that's not the receptionist's fault, it's part of the process to safeguard me and my information.

It is upsetting to listen to others criticise openly in the waiting room that they've been waiting 30 minutes but it will always be for a genuine reason. Maybe the doctor has just broken terminal news to a patient or been called to respond to an emergency. That delay may be due to us one day or one of our loved ones, so we need to think before we speak.

I have always been shown compassion and care from the Jenner with special mention needed for three staff members from reception, the HCAs and two particular doctors, as they are second to none and Whittlesey people are very lucky to have them.
