"Infant tonsillectomy ENT children's ward 21"

About: Darlington Memorial Hospital

My 3 year old daughter had a tonsillectomy here this morning and understandably as a family we will all very nervous and worried about how the procedure would go. I coudnt thank any of the staff that contributed in my daughters health and well being throughout our short day stay on ward 21. The nurses delivered exceptional health care to my daughter through the use of effective communication styles and techniques that made my daughter comply with trust and ease with all that was needed to be done to ensure that her experience was pain free and carried out safely. The highly skilled and rigouris care provided to make my daughter comfortable throughout her stay in hospital was also delivered by a staff member, who ensured my child was able to explore her curiosity whilst visiting hospital through play and in effect enabling her experience in hospital although not a pleasant experience but still in a way a positive and enjoyable one. As a parent I was able to confidently put my childs health and care needs in hands of the clearly advanced skilled professionals by having a thorough and detailed disscussion with both the ENT consultant and anaesthetist. The biggest worry as a parent throughout the whole procedure was the anaesthetic and my fears were soon dismissed as the level of care that was provided by the friendly team in the room as my daughter was sedated was above and beyond my expectations, they are an absolute credit to the hospital. Holistically this hospital from the staff who clean the floors repetitively, to the staff that served the tea in the cafe and even the ones who just walked past you on your way out with a smile all truley care and are what makes Darlington Memorial the creditable hospital it is. If your thinking of choosing a hospital for health care that is undoubtly at the heart of the staff that work there this is where you need to go!
