What I liked
I first posted in October 2010 following surgery. I have since had 6 months follow up Chemotherapy at the Pembroke Suite, and once again found the care and professionalism of all the staff outstanding. The cheerful nurses on Pembroke help to make an unpleasant experience more bearable. My consultantant has been wonderful, even phoning me on New Year's Day when I was suffering badly from side effects, to check on my progress. My research nurse has become a helpful friend as she guided me through the process. From the polite staff in the Spriggs Restaurant, to the helpful and interested nurses in the Blood Test Dept, to the beautiful art work on the corridor walls, it all goes to make a positive and caring atmosphere.
In the November edition of the Wiltshire magazine, SDH was listed as on of the Hidden Jewels of Salisbury. My husband and I think it is one of the Jewels in the NHS!
As a small thank you we are taking part in 'Walk for Wards' on 19th June, and have sponsored the 3 wonderful nurses from Pembroke on their cycle ride from London to Paris.
It is the least we can do to express our grateful thanks.
What could be improved
The receptionists in the Blood Dept could learn from the friendly approach of their nursing colleagues!
"Excellent"
