"Gender Identity training, slow bureaucracy"

I really think your team could benefit from some better gender identity training. While I didn't necessarily have a bad time (getting a referral went much smoother than I expected), I felt like I knew way more than the staff, which isn't encouraging as I start my transition. I've attached a link to an upcoming information session that may be of use.

As an aside, it took me three tries to change my name with the surgery, because I was not offered the correct form the first two tries. This took 76 days from the initial attempt, and delayed a referral to a gender identity clinic by 41 days, when I was called to inform me that my title couldn't be changed (which is confusing because titles aren't legally binding). Referrals already take 18 months and being held back by slow bureaucracy is understandably frustrating.

Please consider attending this session held on February 15th at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, as I think it could really help your team of GPs and nurses treat trans patients with dignity and respect, and particularly with those who require healthcare in their transition. This would have been an email but I could not easily find a way to convey this information to you.
