"Endoscopy Day Unit Royal Bolton Hospital Good Experience"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I struggled a lot with the prep drinks but I still turned up for my Investigations on the day. I had a banging headache and felt very irritable, so I told someone when I arrived.

The Unit has a nice atmosphere, a bit homely really, I think it's the table and chairs you can see at one end, and the nice curtains, and the windows. The staff are nice and relaxed. The Unit is light and the colours are nice. And it is very clean indeed. I thought the cleaners should be really proud of that.

My canula took no problem and wasn't painful.

The bed / trolley was comfortable.

I had privacy. The curtains around the bed are good enough for privacy and I never felt too near other patients. Men or women.

It helped that at no time were there too many visitors at any patients bed area. This helped keep it relaxed esp when I was in recovery.

The procedure went ok for me - well I don't remember too much. Staff said I tried grabbing. It all went OK.

I was checked on but allowed to lie on the Trolley / bed for as long as I needed until I felt well enough to get up and think about having a cup of tea.

I joined other people at a table near a window and had cups ot tea and got offered toast. All the staff were lovely. I was hoping everyone liked their job there. Seemed like a good team. There were some cards from patients on the wall. I thought the people / person in charge should be proud of their unit.

My friend came up to the unit and we went home in a taxi.

I got a diagnosis from my biopsy which is a really good thing.
