The doctor's excellent care of my breathless son

At 07:30am on Friday 17/11/17, we saw that our son's O2 saturation had dropped to below 90%, though he seemed subdued and wheezy, he didn't seem in distress, so we waited until surgery opened at 08:30am and made an emergency appointment. We brought him to see the Doctor at 09:10am. I had to take my sister to Barking Hospital and left him with his mother.

My wife told me how good and caring was the doctor; the doctor asked what medications he was taking and did a thorough check up. The doctor confirmed O2 saturation were in the low 90s and with 2x Salbutamol nebules with Oxygen, the doctor got it up to 98% but it dropped to 87% within 10 minutes of coming off. So the doctor gave a further 2 nebules, while drafting a letter for admission to Accident & Emergency. I returned from the hospital about now and saw the saturation drop again. I thought I would take him in my car to King George Hospital, but the doctor said they didn't think it was safe without Oxygen and monitoring so the doctor called an ambulance for my son. The doctor spoke to the paramedic when they came and my son left the doctor's care at 10:30am and throughout that time the doctor was with us even though they had other patients to see as well.

At Newham hospital after a combination of steroids and high dose inhalers his saturation stabilised above 95% and was discharged around 3pm with a home care plan. We were told not to wait for surgery to open if this happens again but go straight to Accident & Emergency.

At 7pm the doctor called us at home, to find out how my son was doing and what happened. I know my brother is a good doctor and I would expect this level of care from him, for his nephew. I found the doctor's care for my son indistinguishable from the care from his uncle. Thank you.
