"Lovely care experience start to finish"

About: Northern General Hospital

I came in for a gallbladder removal surgery and was happy with the care and respect given by each staff from the morning staff to the night staff.

Even though from arriving at the reception a member of staff had been off sick but that did not effect the proffesional manner of the staff kindly informing of this which can happen in every work place and even though the reception was near full.

I was met by my consultant explaining of the procedure and of what my concerns were and if I was happy in consenting. The room was comfortable a little dated but that does not effect the staff and there commitment and I was happy to take rest as I had not slept well the night before.

My surgery was running late and I wa a little concerned as I was realy hungry too but was told one of operations being done had some complications so it was understandable. A short time after I was met by my anaesthesiatist explaining procedure and sign a form and then taken through. I was taken through by a lady which I had a good laugh with and met with the team and given my anaesthetic. At no point did I feel nervous as I was treated with care and compassion as it's not every day you have a op like so.

After the op waking up slowly to a gentle voice assuring me I was ok and that she was gona help me wake up and have pain relief and I found her very comforting and then taken to my room to relax as I told her I was tired and that it was ok and expected. My wife came to see me and asked if I was ok and I told her I was hungry and a short while after my food had arrived. At night going to sleep was hard and painful but was given pain relief and was monitored throughout the night till morning as they required.

All I can say it that all the TAU staff are very good natured people and are professional compassionate people and I am happy with the care and respect I have recieved. From cleaners to kitchen staff to the main staff on this ward are a credit to northern general hospitol. This is why I say our NHS staff are so under rated and our government should meet some of there demands because they work so damm hard. Anyway I wish level E

TAU 3 department all the success in the future. My admission date was the 05/03/18 to 06/03/18 late afternoon.

Thank you for leaving feedback. Undergoing surgery can be very nerve racking and it will be very encouraging for other people who need surgery to read about your experience. It will also mean a great deal to the staff concerned to know they were able to help you feel supported and cared for, as this is what they strive to do. They will really appreciate this.

With thanks and all best wishes for your continued recovery
