"My Son and Chronic Pain"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Pain Management Clinic

(as a parent/guardian),

My son has suffered immensely with Chronic Pain for the last 3 years.

We were overjoyed (like we had won the lottery) when he eventually got an appointment at the Pain Clinic In Wishaw General last summer.  He attended the appointment and was give 2 anaesthetic injections into his joints which made a huge difference to his pain. He could go out with his children for the first time in a very long time, While he was still in some pain the difference was incredible.

He was due to get another appointment by December 2017, He called the pain clinic and left numerous voice mails requesting his return appointment. He did receive a call back explaining he had to return his form about his opinion on the injections.  He had already returned the form and was advised it must have been lost, he received an apology and was sent out a new form with the promise he would receive his return appointment within 1 month of the form being received. That was back in November.

Its now 4 months later and despite leaving 2-3 voice mail messages with the pain clinic in Wishaw is still waiting on an appointment.  He has said in his numerous voice mails he is prepared to go to any pain clinic anywhere.

It is now a desperate situation as he is in agony over his whole body today, in places he has never had pain before, He cannot move without intense, very severe pain wracking his whole body.  He is a single parent to a young child and is not able to cope with this at all at this time..

Please please tell us what to do

Hi Pauline

Thank you for responding. Yvonne has already tried to help but unfortunately she is unable to.

She looked into it and called my son last Friday to advise him he will not get another pain clinic appointment until at least 12 months from now despite the fact he should have had an appointment before Christmas last year.

It just gets worse and worse.

Thanks

jennifer
