I called at 11am today to ask to speak to a GP - I did not necessarily need an appointment. I was told to call back at 2pm as all the calls for that morning were full I asked if I could book an afternoon call but was told I had to call back at 2pm. I called again at 2pm as instructed to be told they were once again full. After complaining the receptionist who was very rude and unsympathetic reluctantly gave me an appointment for the following day. I asked if the receptionist could feedback how poor I thought the system was but was told "no point its not of interest to me". If I had called back tomorrow that would have been three calls for the surgery to deal with which surely is a waste of everyone's time. I wonder if I had been a patient calling who was frightened or embarrassed of making such a call how encouraged I would have been to have called back. ?!
