"Arrived with chest pains"

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital / Accident and emergency

As a retired nurse, I tend to self treat and not make a fuss. I had chest discomfort/pain for about 6 hrs extending to my left shoulder. Rang 111 and was advised to attend A&E within the hour. Attended Basingstoke Hosp above Dept which was busy. Triaged by a staff nurse/practitioner that acted like she did not want to be be there. Luckily got a lovely friendly HCA who was happy to be there and made me feel relaxed in a stressful situation. Eventually was seen by a Dr tests done and thankfully ok. 3 hrs there but that was ok as very busy. I'm reviewing this as a retired nurse of 40 plus years working in the NHS and feel the only part I was disappointed in was the triage nurse. I do understand she was under pressure but perhaps she could lighten up a bit!

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback regarding our emergency department (ED). I am always pleased to read positive comments on the care and treatment patients have received. I have shared your review with the clinical leaders and ED team, who I am sure will be delighted, but also use it to help improve the service to future patients.
