Having a family member with a terminal illness is distressing enough without having GP's and district nurses that are just not interested in giving care to this person, or trying to push family into giving an extortionate amount of pain killers when this person is not in any pain.
They don't take the wishes of the family into consideration, bearing in mind that the patient is unable to give instruction, with regular carers who are much more interested in the patients wellbeing and care who will also pick up issues which both the GP and nurses are not interested in doing anything about.
Prescriptions are forgotten, not sent to the pharmacy or are sent to the wrong supplier.
It makes the family feel that just because someone has been given a terminal diagnosis, the interest in giving care to this person stops.
They negate the wishes and the feelings of the family leaving those closest to the patient having to call for out of hours assistance, which means a trip to Accident and Emergency and the appropriate care is then given.
"Lack of care towards terminally ill."
