This was sold on several occasions as 'one stop' clinic, please don't sell it as this as it isn't.
I visited with my mother who had a lump, very little sleep in the 13 days waiting for appointment. The waiting room ran out of seats while waiting, luckily only running 15mins late, to see a lovely dr who refered my mum for an ultrasound and mammogram.
Again put into another crowded waiting room, no idea of waiting times just told 'busy' . Called for mammogram within 20 mins, then back to wait for ultrasound.
Again no waiting times told, we waited three hours for the ultrasound, then to be told they had run out of time for a biopsy and that we would have to come back another day!
Clinic call my mum the next day and made appointment for the Thursday. Biopsy taken and given an appointment for a months time for results. The following day which was the Friday my mum received a phone call from the breast care nurse bringing forward her appointment to the following weds. (3 weeks earlier).
Obviously the worst presumed, a whole weekend to worry and mon/tues! Only to be told that it was all clear! (Thank fully)
My mums feelings were not taken into account during this whole process, she was and so were all of the family.
As myself and my sister sat in the waiting room for my mum and dad to come of of the results appointment we heard the appointments lady say to a women that if there is a problem with her biopsy the nurse will call and bring her appointment forward, this made us both look at each other and gasp!
My main issues are;
1) not a one stop clinic
2) too many people booked for actual times given
3) waiting time of 3 hours for investigation, then not enough time to do it
4) given an appointment for a months time, then called the next day and bought forward three weeks unnecessarily worrying the life out of my mum and family as negative
5) no option of phone results if negative
6) heard in waiting room that they will bring forward appointment if a problem
7) these women are a numbers not patients with feelings,
