I went into the A&E for a minor injury and the nurse who cleaned my wound was absolutely lovely and caring. She made me feel comfortable and happy with the service. However, I got a different nurse to dress my wound and put on stitiches, after an hour of waiting. This particular nurse just kept looking and me and my sister as though we were trash and showed little to no care when inspecting my wound. She kept prodding at it, which I understand, she repeatedly put more pressure than needed when putting her fingers inside of the wound against the fat tissue. She wasn’t gentle and scraped an antiseptic wipe against my skin much harder than necessary.
I have social anxiety so, when I was answering some questions, I had to have my sister help me answer some of them because of my struggle of talking to strangers. When my sister helped answer the questions, she just gave us a dirty look and bitterly questioned “And who are you?”. I can understand that they need to be weary of people but me and my sister felt extremely disrespected. Personally, I would rather not go back to that hospital.
"Lack of care and respect."
