"I am recovering at my own pace with the people I trust"

About: Ashley House

(as a service user),

I have been going to AA for over 4 years, I had a period of not drinking which lasted 17 months. During this time I swapped the alcohol for cannabis and painkillers, I didn't realise it at the time but my life was/is unmanagable.

I called the NA helpline in the summer of last year and I was put in touch with TTP which is run at ashley house. I went straight to the abstinence group in Runcorn which I attended 5 days a week.

After 20 weeks I realised I was still struggling and so went into the pre-contemplation group for 2 days a week at ashley house. A few times I used canabis and pain killers and I was not honest with myself or my peers.

The counsellors at TTP seem to really understand what I am going through and they have been the only people so far that I feel I can be honest with. I am recovering at my own pace with the people I trust.

I was guttted when I heard that this might no longer be able to happen, I have had other key workers but they didn't seem to understand me and I found it difficult to be honest.

Thank you for your posting and I hope you continue to make progress with your recovery.

I can reassure you that the counsellors who worked for TTP continue to work at Ashley House, now for Addaction, and they continue to provide the necessary interventions and support to maintain the recovery agenda within Ashley House which will be an integral part of any future service delivery in Halton.

thank you for your feedback,

we are glad that you have been able to recover at your own pace and you feel safe enough in treatment at ashley house to voice your opinion. after the quick departure of TTP the commissioners and teams at ashley house acted swiftly to secure the employment of the Staff facilitating your treatment. this was done with such speed that we didnt lose a days treatment or employment in the period.

we all hope to be able to assist in your recovery as we all move on together

regards
