I attended the Out of Hours Service in the X-ray department of the Friarage Hospital on the 3/1/02/18. I had experienced severe pain in my calf following 2 long haul flights. After a relatively short wait I was seen by a G.P. who performed a thorough examination of my leg, kept me informed of her findings and the protocol she was following. I was referred to the Assessment unit for further tests. It was obvious they were busy but the staff offered me a hot drink and sandwich. The charge nurse kept me informed of the procedure and the likely action if the blood tests were positive. Fortunately the tests proved negative, I was seen by a doctor before I left and given further advice. The staff were thorough, kept me informed and reassured me that I had made the wright decision to seek medical help.
I feel the personal service was excellent, the information relevant and the overall experience reassuring. Local services are important to me and N.H.S. continues to be a service to be valued.
