"Gone downhill, massively"

About: Bolton Road Surgery

My GP left after 20 years for pastures new. New GP was apparently recruited, but lasted a couple of weeks as I understand it. They are recruiting, but don't seem to be getting anyone anytime soon. Had to see a locum initially who (once I had explained what was wrong) asked me what I wanted them to do about my condition! No examination thereafter, just the click of the button to arrange an outpatients referral. No explanation as to what might be wrong etc. Have to now wait 8 weeks for an appointment! Been assigned a new GP now who has to be the most miserable person I have had the misfortune to meet. Pretty much made up their mind what was wrong with me, despite me presenting with completely unrelated symptoms, and then suggested that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (with which I suffer) was caused by depression!! I never struggled to get a diagnosis from my previous GP and they were extremely supportive, but in one foul swoop, this new one has redefined the condition! And what is it with GP reception staff? Everyone complains about the same things - that they are terse, rude, or unhelpful. Well, they certainly are terse and unhelpful here, and although they have never dared be rude to me, I have heard them being so.

I'm now looking around for a new GP now as I have never felt quite so 'dismissed' and treated like a statistic as I do this surgery. It's really gone downhill.

We are very sorry to read your comments above.

The Surgery is indeed going through a difficult time whilst we try to recruit a new GP partner to help the existing 4 Partners.

We are therefore reliant upon the help of Locums who would usually see patients with acute problems i.e. "on the day patients".

If any patient is unhappy with their care, they are able to book in to see their named GP on a routine basis or to request a telephone consultation.

Please be assured we are working very hard behind the scenes to manage our patient List and also to recruit our much need 5th GP Partner.
