My late partner has spent many weeks in and and out of Crosshouse Hospital, Ayrshire.
Suffering from long term and terminal illness, he was made to feel comfortable by efficient and friendly staff, particularly in ward 4E. Not just nurses but at all levels of staff gave him encouragement and support during his times of discomfort. He saw how difficult some patients were with the staff and he was appalled at how the staff were treated by them so had great admiration for the patience and tolerance of the staff. In many cases it's not the NHS at fault, but the attitude of whinging patients who make hospital stays unpleasant.During my partner's last days, he was treated with courtesy and dignity and as his family, we could not find fault with the treatment of either him or us, and they helped us through a difficult time. As visitors, we felt comfortable with the warm, friendly atmosphere created not only by the staff but the friendliness and concern patients had for each other and it all helped to make the best of the situation. We felt some patients don't realise the amount of work which goes on behind the scenes but forget it's not just one person caring for them that it is a whole team of doctors and nurses. It's a very big thank you to ward 4E, Crosshouse Hospital
