"Fantastic treatment during In-patient time"

About: The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust / Neurosurgery

During periods when I received inpatient treatment I was support well following treatment. Although on one occasion a nurse removed my pillows from my bed while I was still in hospital stating that I did not need them as I was going home. I did not go home and was quite unhappy. In patient treatment fab, consultants are under pressure to see every one; that comes with the job. Outpatients is awful, I travel for 3 hours to see my consultant and 95% of the time I see his understudy. I'm nervous and feel my concerns and pain are pushed to one side. Post-op visits have never been within the recommended time.

On one occasion I overheard staff talking about me and my condition stating I had inflated the effects. Why would anyone want to do this? Now I am suffering so much and am unable to ease the pain I have in anyway.

Beware of outpatients, you can not always get the support.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We are pleased to read your positive feedback about your inpatient experience, although there is still learning for us regarding the incident when pillows were removed from your bed.

On the other hand, we are concerned to read about your outpatient experience and how much this differed. We would like to discuss this in more detail with you if you don't mind so that we can find out more about what happened and take this forward. If you would like us to do so, please contact our Patient Experience Team on 0151 556 3091/93 or by email to PatientExperienceTeam@thewaltoncentre.nhs.uk
