I was recently required to have an operation to remove a 7cm cyst on my right ovary, and it was the first time I was to have a general anaesthetic. There was a chance I would have to have the ovary removed, but luckily that wasn't the case. I was also having a Mirena coil fitted at the time of the operation and I was very comfortable throughout, laughing as they helped to calm me. The care I received before the day of the operation, the time I was admitted and the care throughout my stay was phenomenal! The doctors, surgeons, nurses and anaesthesiologists were very caring and took time explaining things to me, listening to my concerns, explaining the procedure and were always making sure I was okay before, during and after the operation. I felt so at home whilst I was there, and the ward was lovely with absolutely outstanding staff. The food was very tasty and easy to eat when I had no appetite, and I was never in much pain as they helped me to cope. The operation did take longer than expected as my asthma acted up whilst I was under general anaesthetic, but they kept my mum and boyfriend informed throughout on my condition and I'm very glad that they did. The whole experience was amazing, and I will always choose this hospital for any operations I may have to have in the future.
