I needed to visit A&E with ongoing abdominal pain.
The Dr who eventually reviewed me was polite and listened to me as such she was able to act appropriately to ensure the correct treatment was prescribed.
This was a stark contrast to a triage staff member, I found her very distant for the 20 second review she gave me and the other patients I observed enter the triage room.
There was little engagement from her in trying to coax out the information to triage my condition.
I say this as her face was mainly stuck staring into the PC monitor. She did not inform me voluntarily of my BP, Pulse or oxygen Saturation results.
I have aggoraphobia a mental health condition, which is not a fear of open space. but an anxiety disorder which causes you to avoid places which you may panic.
I was not asked if I had any mental health conditions or any other conditions which may affect the assessment.
Should this not be a standard on all medical forms?
I think the nursing staff in this hospital have forgotten about mental health and can only see physical health (that is if they ever look up from the computer screen).
