"Chicken soup"

About: St Charles Hospital

Went to the main buildings reception today in pain, I asked for directions to a department the receptionist looked at me and continued her conversation. I asked again and she pointed at the poster and again continued her conversation about chicken soup, while the other listened with her cup of tea. This isn't the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last. The receptionists are not required to deal with patients with respect. If I was a vulnerable individual or did not know how to read, what would I have done? Pull your socks up St charles and hold your employees to account.

I’m sorry that this happened.

We run the Mental Health Unit based at St Charles Hospital. I’m not sure if this is the reception you visited as it sounds like you may have visited the main reception for St Charles Hospital instead which is run by another NHS Trust.

Would you be able to give me some more information so I can look into this please?

Our staff should always be welcoming and helpful so if this did happen at our reception then I want to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

If you would be happy to talk to me about this, please call me on 020 8206 7281. If I am unavailable, please leave your contact details and I will call you back.

Therese Cahir

Kensington and Chelsea Inpatient Service Manager
