"Reapeat prescrptions"

About: Aintree Park

Today my husband visited the surgery to request a repeat prescription for me. I am aware of your policy that 48 hours notice is required for you to prepare a repeat prescription so therefore it should be ready on Friday. My husband was told that it may not be possible to collect it on Friday due to a problem at the surgery. My husband explained to the receptionist that I needed my medication as I did not have enough to get me through the weekend and revealed I was in considerable pain as I am currently awaiting to have a full hip and knee replacement. My surgery should have happened last Nov but has been cancelled twice due to pressures on the NHS crisis over the winter months. I understand all resources are under pressure and problems occur but people should not be left in excruciating pain because they have complied with the surgery's practice but have been denied important medication when they need it.

We were sorry to hear of your problems. We do commit to having prescriptions ready within 48 hours and I can only assume that there were some issues with your request, perhaps a medication review was required ? We would be happy to look into this for you and our Manager can be contacted on if you could supply some details

Patients can sign up for online services and medication can be requested online. Signing up with your local pharmacist for electronic prescribing can enable prescriptions to go direct to the pharmacy
