"Amazing"

Gave birth to my first baby here on 11/2/18. Not a single bad thing to say - from our birth plan appointment at 36 weeks till he was born we had a really positive experience and I would definitely recommend HBC. My waters broke before contractions started so there was a chance I would have to be transferred to calderdale had it been a long delivery but even if that had happened I would have been glad I got to do some of it at Huddersfield. My baby was born just after midnight so I got the day and night staff and they were all brilliant. I wanted as little pain relief as possible and delivered with just gas and air, I really don't think I would have managed that if the staff hadn't been encouraging and explained to me so well exactly what stage I was at and what was happening so I didn't panic. I felt like everything in my birth plan was respected, even if something had to change I was consulted about it. After the birth we were treated like guests rather than patients and allowed to spend time together as a family before the tests etc were carried out, there was no pressure on us to leave or stay longer and we ended up coming home less than 12 hours after he was born. There was really good support before we were discharged though so I never felt like I was left alone unless I wanted to be. In short absolutely brilliant and definitely consider having your baby here if you can!! We have had an amazing couple of days with our son since he was born and I honestly think that's down to the great start we got here.
