"Majors is appalling"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Accident & emergency

To cut a long story short my wife is pregnant and suffering severely from sickness and dehydration (hadn’t passed urine for approx 7hrs). The centre itself is severely understaffed and the staff that are there look annoyed and unhappy. In the waiting room every single seat was taken, people were lying on the floor, standing up and it all seemed perfectly normal for the staff. There was no urgency and as my wife was puking into a bowl there was no privacy. It seems like there answer to everything is send the patients to majors instead of distributing patients to were they need to go and get the help they require. After a 7 hour wait we were seen and then moved to gynaecology ward were she was taken care of well by the ward staff. Overall the procedure to get things done is terrible. Avoid it at all costs and take the drive to heartlands we’re our previous experience was far better!

Dear Patient,

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your posting.

I am very sorry to read your comments and of your experience in the A&E Department at Good Hope Hospital.

It must have been very worrying for you, especially as your symptoms became worse.

If you would be willing to provide further details such as you name, address and date of birth and a contact number, as a Trust, we would welcome the opportunity to review your care.

You can do this by contacting a member of the Patient Services Team on 0121 424 0808 or you can email your concerns to bhs-tr.Complaints-ConcernsandCompliments@nhs.net who can then take the necessary action.

If you do contact our team, can I please ask you to advise the member of staff that you are responding to your NHS Choices Posting.

I shall forward your posting to the senior management team for A&E so and ask that it is shared with the staff, so they are aware of your experience.

Regards

Miss J. Langham

Patient Services Officer
