"Left in the lurch"

I was referred to Medway Talking Therapies by my GP for severe depression & psychosis, who referred me to Canada House as they felt my needs were complex & long term. I had an assessment there 2 weeks later and was given a working diagnosis of bipolar and told I would be contacted 'shortly' to arrange an official diagnosis with a psychiatrist, and that I would be starting anti psychotic medication and therapy sessions. This was all confirmed in writing too. I left feeling relieved to finally be getting help. However, since then i've had no contact. After waiting 6 weeks i've now started calling twice a week asking for updates, each time i'm told they don't know what's happening & will email the Dr asking him to contact me. I understand they're overstretched but it's shocking that people experiencing severe depression, psychosis or suicidal thoughts are just left with no point of contact for information & staff don't even know how long the wait usually is for treatment to start after an assessment.
