Really ‘stinky’ attitude from the nurse in a&e, including public expression of her annoyance and frustration that I was even accepted by the receptionist to stay and be seen. I have never experienced such lack of respect and professionalism.I was sat in the waiting room while the nurse was giving the receptionist a lip about allowing someone with palpitations to come in and telling her this patient should not be here, ‘kick her out’. Considering I was seen five minutes prior to this situation,it was not a rocket science to figure it out who she was talking about. I was shocked by her attitude and so was my partner when following from this she came to us, within another five min,to say ‘lovey,I won’t see you till morning, won’t even do any blood tests,so it’s better if you go home’. I’d like to make it clear that it was not my plan to visit hospital in the first place and the reason I went was the advice I was given over the phone after ringing 111 and speaking to three separate practitioners (trying to avoid visit at the hospital) who clearly stated to be on the safe side go and get checked. Nevertheless, it is not the lack of attention for my ‘issues’ that disappointed me so much,it was literally the awful attitude from a health care professional, one of the worst I came across. I am full of understanding towards the possible tiredness of staff and demands of a busy shift.Still, lack of respect and professionalism is not something that you should be able to get away with so easily in this sort of profession.
"Dignity and respect?? None"
