My mother was admitted as an emergency, following an operation at Hallamshire and a stay at home convalescing.
Our view is that DRI should learn a lot from the Royal Hallamshire. We appreciate that NHS staff do a very demanding job but DRI does not offer the same level of care as its neighboring hospital. The ward is very disorganized, staff do not update or consult with patients and their families when they say they will. The food is poor quality with menus lacking in variety and not really offering good balanced nutrition. If a choice had been available, my mother would have preferred a return to the Hallamshire, even though it was a greater distance to travel.
