"Newborn baby A&E and paediatric admission"

About: Leighton Hospital / Accident and emergency

My newborn daughter was taken into Leighton A&E by ambulance as she was struggling to breathe at times with bronchiolitis. She was seen in triage quickly and after a short wait (to be expected on a Friday night) she was seen in A&E and then admitted to the paediatric ward overnight for monitoring.

All staff we dealt with were polite, helpful and informative. We felt our little girl was looked after thoroughly and we were involved at all stages. We ended up having to stay over and the nurses were able to find us food at 1:30 am after having not eaten for most of the day.

We could not fault the service we received and at a time when A&E and the NHS are under pressure and criticism, we felt very lucky to have it!

A special mention to the doctor on the paediatric admissions ward who was just fantastic!
