"Made me get private health care"

After contracting some sort of stomach bug while travelling abroad, I spent a week off work violently ill with vomiting and diarrhoea, losing lots of weight.

I finally went into the surgery for help and was told 'I'd have to be sick for a short time longer, as we don't give out antibiotics until a x amount of time had passed.'

So, I was supposed to just wait until your guideline time was reached? After expressing my anger about this, the doctor finally suggested I go to the travel clinic at UCH where I would 'be able to get antibiotics.' Why did it have to come to that? Couldn't you have just told me and save me having to fight you on this?

Other than that, the receptionists here are joyless and unhelpful. You basically end up feeling worse every time you have to deal with this place. I took out self-pay BUPA coverage after all this.
