Had our first baby at Lewisham on January 3rd. Induction, long labour, failure to progress and an emergency C Section -- everything that should have added up to a 'traumatic birth'...
However, the staff at Lewisham worked so hard to make us feel safe and cared for and we can't thank them enough. Everything was carefully explained to us, and we were treated with kindness and dignity. Huge thanks especially to the anesthetist who gave me my epidural and all the midwives who patiently helped me care for my baby after the section and three nights without sleep. Also to the breastfeeding consultant who gave me the confidence to keep trying even though my son had a tongue tie.
Tips: pack a cotton nightie, the ward is hot. Also, sadly there's a 7 day referral period for the tongue tie division so if breastfeeding is important to you look into going private if you don't want to wait...
"Thank you to the lovely staff at Lewisham"
