My husband was transferred to Southmead from Gloucester following a brain hemorage, as you can imagine with the poor media cover the NHS are currently receiving I was extremely concerned about the level of care he would receive,
On his arrival at Southmead they immediately admitted him to ICU after meeting with 2 doctors and a consultant despite arriving after 11 pm, they carried out further CT Scans and and Angiogram to enusre they were satisfied with the results.
They monitored him constantly and were always on hand checking he was okay and if he needed anything, he was eventually moved to gate 6 and put in a side room that was fully equipped down to a television that was free to watch, unlike many hopsitals where you need to pay for this service.
All staff including the cleaning staff were friendly polite and went out of their way to help,
I spent the majority of my days there and it was rare to see any staff sit still despite the fact they work 12 hour shifts. When he was discharged the lady who served the tea/coffee was in the hallway and remembered his name when she was saying goodbye and good luck.
I would like to say a very big thank you to all the staff from cleaners to consultants who looked after my husband.
