My wife and I arrived at A & E and having registered with Reception, we only had to wait around 5 minutes before we were seen by one of the junior doctors. We explained that my wife had experienced a fall on the ice that morning and we believed she had broken her arm. The Consultant (Dr. Garreth? ) was introduced and said that it may not be a break but possibly a dislocation of the elbow. My wife was sent through for an x-ray with only a short wait. The result of the x-ray proved that it was a dislocation. Dr. Garreth explained that a GA was required to 'put it back in place' and that all would be fine. When my wife came round she was fine and after about 30 minutes she was allowed to leave. Throughout the whole experience EVERY member of the team were superb - polite, friendly and caring. In fact, my wife almost enjoyed the experience as she felt totally cared for! I think we were allowed to leave two and a half hours after we arrived, which is an absolutely fantastic service - well done the NHS and its staff. We are very aware of the pressures you are constantly under (especially during the Winter months) and that an element of 'bad press' is handed out. However, this has not been true on the very rare occasions we have had to use the service, so you can all be proud that your efforts are recognised and appreciated. I am pleased to let you know that my wife continues to improve and is now back in the gym & swimming! Many thanks.
