"Radiography department"

About: Colchester General Hospital

I attended the radiography dep't for 15 sessions and cannot speak highly enough of the unit. It is spotlessly clean, the reception staff are excellent, my appointments were almost always on time, the waiting area is spacious with a hospitality tea/coffee station, the dressing rooms are secure with freshly laundered tunics and adjoining door into the treatment area. The radiotherapy staff did not intrude and just knocked to ask if I was ready. From start to finish of each and every treatment over the course of 15 sessions, the care I received each time was outstanding. The Radiography staff were amazing and I was treated with dignity and medical care of the highest order. Sad to say, I accompanied my daughter to another hospital in Essex for radiotherapy treatment and I was expecting their dep't to be similar to my experience at Colchester. Unfortunately, they were worlds apart (almost Third World), a cramped waiting area, a cubicle for changing in the main waiting area where patients then had to come out in their tunics and wait in the general area carrying their other clothing in hand. Unbelievable the difference between two hospitals in the same County.
