"My heart attack response and treatment"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance Victoria Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

One morning int January I had a heart attack at home in Glenrothes. My wife phoned 999 at approximately 6.45am.

Within an hour and a half I was lying in a theatre in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary having a stent fitted in an artery in my heart.

I was in the ERI for a day, then transferred to the Victoria hospital Ward 21/23 in Kirkcaldy on the Monday, then went home on the Wednesday.

The care and treatment I received from everybody from paramedics, doctors, nurses and everyone else was exemplary. I cannot praise SNHS high enough.

Hi Neebs,

Thank you very much for sharing you story and a very positive one at that! It seems that what must have been a very distressing situation for yourself and your loved ones was handled in a very swift and professional manner.

It is nice of you to say these kind words about the ambulance service and our partners in other departments of NHS Scotland and I think it would be great if I could pass on these comments to our staff. If you would like me to do this you can contact me on scotamb.corporateaffairs@nhs.net.

I wish you all the best in your recovery!

Kind Regards

Alan
