I took my 86 year old father to A&E as he had just moved to the area and could not get registered in time to see a doctor. He has Gout and his legs were very swollen and we were worried they were infected. We visited at 9.30am friday and suprisingly the waiting room was empty. We were seen to straight away and ended up in the ward in 30 mins after seeing about 5 nurses/ triage / assesment etc(assesment doctor borderline rude speaking to an elderly person though).
Nurses and doctors after that were friendly and helpful and made a potentially worrying experience a lot better.
We were out the door after a few tests etc in about 2 hours. The only critsism was that the doctor we saw spoke good English but had a very strong accent so was hard to understand. I welcome doctors and nurses from overseas and am grateful but would it not be a good idea to offer lessons to improve their accent ? We struggled to understand
What was going on especially with the medical phrases. This of course makes it harder to tell the next medical professional we experience of what went on with our visit.
Overall very pleased.
