"Safely helped on the motorway"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance The Great Western Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

I had to call the emergency services yesterday whilst on the motorway as I needed an ambulance for my 93 year old passenger.  I am the very person an operator doesn't want on the end of the line, as when I was asked where I was I hadn't a clue.  I was in a bit of a tiz dealing with my passenger and the surrounding traffic.  The operator asked me various questions and soon managed to tell me which junction I was on and she sent an ambulance straight away.  The crew were great and looked after us so well.

We were taken to Swindon Hospital Emergency department who were absolutely superb.  Thank you so much

Response from Sharifa Hashem, Patient Engagement Manager, South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust

Dear Perseuszj83,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story and I hope the passenger you were with is recovering well.

It is always rewarding to hear stories of how our staff are delivering care and support to patients and those around them when they need it most.

We would be happy to share your story with the ambulance staff involved in this instance, however, to do so we will need some specific information. If you would like us to do this, please may I ask you to contact us on either or 01392 453 831 and a member of the Patient Engagement Team will be happy to help you further.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to provide us with feedback.

Kind regards,
